Design Challenge
The design challenge is to create a unique candle design for the St. Augustine Beach Dance Company. The goal is to create a package design label for two different types of candles, one for a lid and one for the container. The candle scent is peppermint and pine and the dance company wants a unique candle name to go along with the scent and packaging.
Design Solution
For my design I wanted to incorporate elements of both peppermint and pine to correlate with the scent of the candle. To execute this I decided to name my candle “Candy Cane Lane” as when I think of a candy cane lane I think of trees alongside the lane incorporating both peppermint and pine into the name. For my design I decided to tie in some elements from other designs I created for the dance company. I decided to go with the same gingham background I used for my poster/program design for the dance company. I figured the red and white gingham used with the green background behind the text brought in elements of both peppermint and pine. I also included two candy canes next to the Winter Spectacular logo to tie into the candle name and scent.
