Design Challenge
The design challenge for this project was to create a t-shirt design for The Dance Company of St. Augustine Beach for their Winter Spectacular performance. Alongside the t-shirt design I had to create a corresponding poster and program cover design. The goal for my design was to create a whimsical, light-hearted, winter design that represents the dance company and the holidays. The goal is to create a design that is eye catching and fun without using traditional red and green Christmas colors per the dance company’s request.
Design Solution
For my design I chose to create gingerbread cookies that look like dancers. I chose this design because it combines a popular holiday tradition with dance. Not only did gingerbread fit into the holiday theme, but it also gave me a unique color scheme to work with that did not include the traditional red and green combination the dance company wanted to move away from. With this I created a cute, light-hearted design of gingerbread dancers and staged them together. I also included smaller cookie shaped snowflakes and stars as a decorative filler.
